The
14500 battery is a lithium battery with a diameter of 14mm and a height
of 50mm. It is divided into lithium iron phosphate battery and lithium
cobalt oxide battery according to the core material. The lithium cobalt
oxide battery voltage is 3.7V, and the lithium iron phosphate battery
voltage is 3.2V. The voltage can be adjusted to 3.0V by the lithium
battery regulator. Since its size is the same as that of the AA5#
battery, one 14500 lithium battery
and one occupancy barrel can be used instead of two AA batteries.
Compared with nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries, lithium
batteries have the advantages of light weight, less self-discharge and
superior discharge performance. Therefore, they are widely used by
digital photographers and electronic cigarettes instead of nickel-metal
hydride rechargeable batteries.
Comparison of advantages and disadvantages：
Lithium cobaltate is currently the most widely used cathode material for lithium ion batteries. It has mature technology, stable structure, high specific capacity and outstanding comprehensive performance. The disadvantages are poor safety and high cost. It is mainly used for small and medium-sized batteries.
Lithium iron phosphate is a new cathode material for lithium-ion batteries. It has good safety, no explosion, good cycle performance (up to 2000 times), but its energy density is much lower than that of lithium cobalt oxide and ternary materials. More suitable for electric vehicles, power tools and other fields.
Three batteries of the same size and different performance: AA14500 Ni-MH, 14500 Lithium, and No. 5 dry batteries.
